What is the difference between a Workspace and Team subscription?
HeyTaco offers two subscription types — Workspace and Team — available on both plan tiers.
Workspace subscription
Everyone in your workspace has access to HeyTaco. People are added to your subscription automatically when they give or receive their first taco.
How people are removed depends on your platform:
- On Slack, people are removed from HeyTaco automatically when their Slack account is deactivated or when they're removed from the Slack workspace
- On Microsoft Teams, people are not removed automatically — a HeyTaco admin must remove them manually from Admin → People
Team subscription
Pay only for the specific people or team you choose. This is useful for departments or teams that want to use their own budget, or organizations that want to limit HeyTaco to a specific group.
With a Team subscription: you only pay for the members you've selected, leaderboards and rewards are scoped to that group only, and you can run multiple independent Team subscriptions within the same organization.
Regardless of platform, people on a Team subscription must always be removed manually by a HeyTaco admin from Admin → People. This applies to both Slack and Microsoft Teams.
On Slack, people also need to be added manually. The fastest way is through the HeyTaco app in Slack: click on HeyTaco in the Apps section, go to the Messages tab, and use the add command to add people.
On Microsoft Teams, the Team subscription is scoped to a specific Team. Any member of that Team automatically has access to HeyTaco — just add them as a member of that Team in Microsoft Teams directly.
Both subscription types can be cancelled at any time. You can also switch between Workspace and Team subscriptions at any time by [contacting us].
To get started with a Team subscription, go to Admin → Account and choose the Team subscription option during the purchasing process.
