How do I get the most out of Taco Chats?
Pick a rhythm your team can keep
Weekly works for small teams that want to get to know each other fast. Every two weeks is the sweet spot for most teams. Monthly is great for larger or busier teams where a lighter touch fits better.
Announce it before the first round
A quick note in a team channel goes a long way. Let people know what Taco Chats is, that it happens in Slack (no meetings), and that they can opt out anytime. Teams that hear about it from a leader first tend to jump in faster.
Keep new hires in the loop
Turn on Auto-add on first taco so new teammates are included as soon as they start using HeyTaco. Taco Chats is one of the easiest ways for a new hire to meet people outside their own team.
Make it a ritual
If you want Taco Chats to feel like part of your culture, choose Fixed day & time (for example, every other Wednesday at 11am). If you'd rather chats feel spontaneous, stick with Random days & times.
Encourage face time (optional)
If your team is remote and craves more connection, turn on Nudge a video call. HeyTaco will suggest a quick call when it signs off. Async-first teams can leave it off.
Celebrate good conversations
When a Taco Chat sparks something fun or useful, give a taco for it. Recognition and connection feed each other: tacos help HeyTaco make smarter matches next time.
Check participation monthly
Look at the Avg Participation Score on the Admin → Taco Chats page once a month. If participation is low, try a different frequency, a fixed time, or a reminder in your team channel.
