How does HeyTaco work?

HeyTaco is a fun and easy way to show appreciation at work, and it works the same way whether you use Slack or Microsoft Teams.

Giving a taco

To give a taco, tag a coworker's username, write a message of appreciation, and include a 🌮 emoji. That's it.

Every user has a daily limit of five tacos to give. You can spread them across different teammates or give all five to one person to show extra appreciation. Tacos are use-it-or-lose-it — they reset daily and don't roll over, which encourages recognizing people in the moment.

Daily taco limits can be adjusted by a HeyTaco admin.

Why it works

The most important part of HeyTaco is the message behind the taco. Receiving a specific, genuine note of appreciation from a coworker is meaningful — the taco emoji just makes it approachable and fun. The more consistently your team gives tacos, the stronger your culture of recognition becomes.
