Can I transfer tacos from one user to another?
Tacos can't be transferred directly between accounts, but your HeyTaco admin can make it happen using a two-step process. Reach out to your admin if you'd like to donate your tacos to someone else.
How admins can facilitate a taco transfer
Admins can handle taco transfers manually using two tools:
- Create a manual redemption on the Redemptions page to deduct the tacos from the giver's redeemable balance.
- Use the Taco Bonus feature to add those same tacos to the intended recipient's redeemable balance. If you are unsure how to do this, you can use the help guide here: https://heytaco.helpscoutdocs.com/article/140-can-admins-give-bonus-tacos-to-team-members
Using a custom reward to streamline taco donations
If taco transfers are something your team does regularly, admins can set up a custom reward in the Taco Shop specifically for taco donations. When someone redeems it, their tacos are automatically deducted. The admin then uses the Taco Bonus feature to add those tacos to the intended recipient. This keeps the process self-serve for team members while giving admins visibility and control.
An employee is leaving — can they transfer their tacos?
They can work with an admin to facilitate a transfer using the process above, or they can simply redeem any rewards they'd like before their last day. Once they lose access to Slack or Microsoft Teams, they may not be able to sign into HeyTaco to redeem.
Can a group pool tacos toward a shared reward?
Yes — that's what collaborative rewards are for. Anyone can contribute their own tacos toward a shared goal. See How do I create a collaborative reward? for setup instructions.
