How do I redeem a reward?

How redemption works depends on the type of reward.

Custom and collaborative rewards

To redeem a custom reward, go to the Taco Shop, select the reward you want, and confirm the redemption. You'll need enough tacos to cover the full redemption amount.

After redeeming, you'll receive a direct message from HeyTaco confirming the redemption and letting you know who the admins are in case you have questions. Your admin will also be notified automatically so they can fulfill the reward.

Custom rewards are fulfilled by your organization, not by HeyTaco. If you're not sure what to do after redeeming — for example, if the reward didn't include instructions — reach out to your HeyTaco admin. If you don't know who that is, contact us and we can help.

Instant gift cards

To redeem a gift card, go to the Taco Shop, select the gift card you want, and confirm. Before completing the redemption, you'll see a confirmation screen showing the email address the gift card will be sent to. All gift card redemptions are final — there are no exchanges or returns — so confirm the delivery email is correct before proceeding.

Most gift cards are delivered instantly. If you redeem on a Friday, processing may take up to three business days. You can check the status of your gift card at any time under Profile —> Redemptions . A green checkmark means delivered; a clock icon means still processing. If you don't see the email after a few days, check your spam folder first, then contact support if it still hasn't arrived.
