How do I launch HeyTaco with my team?

The key to a successful HeyTaco launch is simple: start giving tacos yourself. If people see tacos flowing, they'll follow your lead. If nothing happens after setup, nothing will happen.

Step 1: Add HeyTaco to your workspace

Follow the steps in "How do I add HeyTaco to my workspace?" to complete setup.

Step 2: Introduce HeyTaco to your team

There's no single right way to launch HeyTaco. Most teams take one of two approaches:

Organic rollout — Let HeyTaco introduce itself by sending a welcome message to the channel (@HeyTaco welcome  ), then start giving tacos immediately. People will pick it up quickly once they see it in action. This is the most common approach and requires very little admin effort.

Structured rollout — If you want to make a moment of it, announce HeyTaco at an all-hands meeting or send a company-wide message or email. The key is communicating the why behind starting a culture of recognition. See our launch templates for ready-to-use channel messages, email templates, and an all-company announcement script.

Step 3: Keep the momentum going

Once tacos are flowing, two things help sustain it:

Celebrate your top taco givers, not just receivers. Givers are the ones driving your culture of recognition forward. Highlighting them at an all-hands or in a team message reinforces the behavior you want.

Hold off on adding rewards at first. People don't need an incentive to say nice things to colleagues — and introducing rewards too early can make recognition feel transactional. Wait until you have a sense of how many tacos are in circulation before pricing rewards. When you're ready, start with one or two. See this list of reward ideas inspired by our current customers.
