Every time a person receives a taco, like Ross did here, they also get a redeemable taco. Those redeemable tacos can be used for HeyTaco rewards in the reward store. HeyTaco rewards are completely custom, meaning you choose whether you'd like to have them and then what kind of reward you'd like to have.
We always recommend waiting a little bit to add rewards in order to help people build an intrinsic habit of giving gratitude. Sometimes added too early, rewards can make recognition feel a little bit too transactional. There are two types of rewards you can create as an admin, individual and group ones.
Individual ones are items that people can redeem for themselves and group ones are the ones where people can work collectively towards a joint goal.
Let's take a look at individual rewards. In order to launch an individual reward, you have to fill out the title of the reward, the description, how many tacos this is worth, the quantity available, and then redemption instructions. This is a confirmation message that people will receive when redeeming the reward that tells them what to do about it and what to expect.
Let's try creating a reward. I'm going to click the reward ideas that pops up ideas we have seen people have success with over the years. I'm going to choose adventure time - here's a description saying it's good for expensing a new adventure. Just make sure you come back nice and safe, a key element. Then I'll think about how many tacos this is worth. Let's say this costs me $50 to reimburse someone for adventure time. We always recommend each dollar be worth no less than four tacos. So $50 would be worth 200 tacos. Every taco economy is different, but this is just a good best practices starting point.
I'll say that I have three of those available because it helps me protect my budget and introduces scarcity, which encourages people to redeem the rewards as soon as they have enough tacos. I will also click the direct message to my team about this reward, so they all get notified, which helps build enthusiasm and their redemption instructions. And I will say, please see our Joe to get your reward. Let's say Joe is someone on my team who is managing the rewards and he will be in charge of getting it for them.
You can also make it more self-service and have the person who redeems the reward go have an experience and submit your receipt, submit their receipt to your People Budget. I will click submit a reward. Now this reward is available in my taco shop. You see a good notification about it and everyone can purchase it here.
Another reward that's really fun is a group reward where people can contribute their tacos for a collective goal. I'll go find one that's really near and dear to my heart, which is tacos for charity. People really love tacos for charity, especially around the holidays because it encourages even more of a giving mindset and gratitude. Let's say our goal was 4,000 tacos to donate X amount of dollars, whatever your company can afford, and every time someone contributes a taco it gets added to the list of contributors.
Rewards can really add some fun and enthusiasm and excitement into your taco economy, and one thing we always recommend is keeping it fun, experiential, preferably non-monetary, and switching them up often so people have fun with them.
