Every time someone receives a taco, they also get a redeemable taco. Redeemable tacos are the tacos that people can use for rewards in your taco shop if you choose to have them.

You do not have to have rewards in order to have a successful taco economy and in fact we always recommend waiting to add rewards until a month or two or three of the start of your HeyTaco subscription.

Waiting to add rewards allows you to see how many tacos people will have to redeem them, as well as gives you time to get ideas from your teammates on what kind of rewards they would like.

There are two types of rewards within HeyTaco, individual rewards, and team ones. Individual ones are things like gift cards, t-shirts, books, experiences that an individual can redeem for themselves.

Team rewards are rewards that multiple people can collectively pull their tacos together for a joint experience. An example of team reward includes Tacos for Charity or Tacos for a Virtual Happy Hour.

In order to create an individual reward, you can fill out this form that asks you for the title of the reward, the description, the redemption amount, i.e., how many tacos this is worth, as well as a quantity that's available.

If you're running out of ideas or just curious about some best practices, click the reward ideas button, where you'll have a bunch of rewards that people have had success with over the years.A lot of them are non-monetary and experiential rewards, which is what we always recommend in order to keep the monetary away from recognition.

For example, you might choose the two movie tickets reward, which is very popular. You click Add, which pre-populates a description and the title, as well as certain other areas. For example, now you have to add the redemption amount, which is how many tacos is this worth? There's no formula for calculating the redemption amount, but a best practice is to think about a taco exchange rate that is four to five tacos to one U.S. dollar. So if these tickets cost me twenty U.S. dollars, I would recommend having to be worth about 100 tacos, 5 tacos for each dollar.

You can also set a quantity available which protects your budget and increases the scarcity which encourages people to redeem their reward as soon as they have enough tacos.

You can replace this image with a fun image. You can also directly message your team by this reward to build some enthusiasm.

Here, you can write the redemption instructions, which are the confirmation page a person will receive when they purchase this reward. For example, you can make it very self-service such as go to the movie theater and please submit your receipt to the people budget or you can say please email Una and schedule your ticket purchase.

You can also forward this email notification to someone that's not on the admin team, because all HeyTaco admins receive a notification from HeyTaco when a reward has been purchased.

You can also capture additional information if you're fulfilling physical items that need a mailing address or have a size that people have to choose from or a color.

Now I will go ahead and publish my reward. You can now see that the two movie tickets reward is live in the taco shop for people to fulfill and it's worth 100 tacos.

An example of a team reward that's really fun and then people really appreciate is the tacos for charity reward. When I click view, you can see that I have been the main contributor and you can see how many tacos I had contributed and that the goal is 4,000 tacos. You can say that when we reach 4,000 tacos, our company is going to donate xx amount of dollars to charity. When that reward is fulfilled, which is 100% complete, you as the admin will receive a notification, saying that the reward has been completed and now you get to donate to the charity of your choice.

Rewards in the taco shop are a fun way to add some enthusiasm and excitement to your taco economy and we always recommend having fun with the rewards, switching them up and asking your team for ideas of what they like.
