The basics
- Everyone gets 5 tacos a day to give to teammates.
- Your tacos reset at midnight in your time zone. Unused tacos don't roll over.
- There's no limit on how many tacos you can receive.
How do I give a taco?
Tag a person you'd like to give a taco to, write a tasty message, add a ๐ฎ, and voilร โ your taco will be sent.
To add the ๐ฎ in Teams, click the emoji button in the message box, search for "taco," and pick ๐ฎ. If you're starting a post in a channel, put the taco in the body of the message, not the subject line.
@Priya Shah great job working on the customer issue! ๐ฎ
How do I give tacos to multiple people?
Giving tacos to multiple people in one message is fun and easy. Each person mentioned will get your message's total number of tacos. Here's our recommended format:
Give each person 1 taco
@Priya Shah @Marcus Lee Great job on graphics for the new website! ๐ฎ
Give each person 2 tacos
@Elena Torres @Marcus Lee I appreciate your help in getting the customer issues resolved! ๐ฎ๐ฎ
That second message uses 4 tacos: 2 each for Elena and Marcus. Keep the math in mind so you don't go over your 5 for the day.
Taco reactions aren't available in Teams. Reacting to a message with ๐ฎ won't give a taco, so write a message instead.
What are redeemable tacos? How are they calculated?
Redeemable tacos are a separate bucket of tacos that can be used to redeem rewards (if your team has them). You receive a redeemable taco every time you receive a taco.
Your HeyTaco profile shows three totals side by side: tacos received, tacos given, and redeemable tacos.
How do I know whether my tacos were tracked by HeyTaco?
You'll receive a notification from HeyTaco in your chat with the HeyTaco app every time your tacos have been sent. You'll also receive a notification when your tacos weren't sent, telling you the reason why. The notification names the channel where you gave the taco. In this example, that's General.
HeyTaco: Priya received 1 taco from you in General. You have 4 tacos left to give today.
You can always confirm whether your tacos have been sent by opening the Activity page in the HeyTaco app in Microsoft Teams. It lists who received each taco, who gave it, the channel, and the message.
4 reasons HeyTaco won't track your tacos
- The message didn't @mention the recipient. Here's a correct example:
@Priya thanks for your help ๐ฎ - The message was edited after being sent to add the ๐ฎ or an @mention. HeyTaco only recognizes the original message.
- The message used more tacos than you had left. Tacos multiply: tag 3 people with ๐ฎ๐ฎ and that's 6 tacos, more than your daily 5.
- HeyTaco wasn't in the team or channel the tacos were given in.
Where can I find the HeyTaco app?
